We moved into our newly-built home in August, 1999. It has a large basement with no obstructions. The only negative is a ceiling height less than 8 feet. My shop was to take only one half of the basement. And even that half had some storage and exercise equipment. The shop eventually grew until I had to remove a wall, but that story will have to wait.
Many of the tools shown in the slideshow have been replaced or supplemented. The Delta contractors table saw was a really good tool. I especially liked the Delta Unifence. Anyway, the Delta saw is long gone and I've had two table saws since. The Delta bandsaw is still with me, but I purchased a larger bandsaw for resawing. The bench-top jointer has been upgraded twice along with the Dewalt bench-top planer and the dust collection system. I'm not sure this is a hobby anymore.
